Full Itinerary
Day 1 Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes
The first day of the Machu Picchu By Car Tour starts with hotel pickup between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM. Once aboard, our guide will provide a detailed introduction and instructions for the tour.
At 7:00 AM, we will embark on the journey towards Hydroelectric, enjoying panoramic views of the Andes along the way. We will make a technical stop in Ollantaytambo around 9:00 AM to stretch our legs and have a snack.
Around 1:00 PM, we will arrive at Hydroelectric, where a delicious lunch will be waiting to recharge our energy before continuing. After lunch, we will begin the hike to Aguas Calientes, though there is also the option to take the train.
Once in Aguas Calientes, we will check into our respective hotels and have the afternoon free to explore the town and enjoy its charm.
In the afternoon, we will meet with the guide for an informational briefing about the visit to Machu Picchu, including details and recommendations for the following day.
Finally, we will spend the night at a hotel in Aguas Calientes, resting and preparing for the exciting adventure that awaits us at Machu Picchu the next day.
Day 2 Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Ollantaytambo - Cusco
The second day of the Machu Picchu By Car Tour begins with a delicious breakfast at the Aguas Calientes hotel, where we will prepare for the exciting day ahead.
After breakfast, we will head to the entrance of Machu Picchu, where our hike to the Inca Citadel will start. This approximately one-hour trek will take us through trails surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning landscapes.
Once at Machu Picchu, we have the option to take a bus to the main entrance, though we can also choose to continue hiking. Once inside, we will join a two-hour guided tour, where an expert will lead us through the highlights and fascinating history of this ancient archaeological site.
Around 12:00 PM, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will have free time to explore further or enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants.
After lunch, we will start the hike back to Hydroelectric, where we have the option to take the train back to Cusco. Once at Hydroelectric, we will bid farewell with one last lunch before embarking on our journey back to Cusco, thus concluding our Machu Picchu By Car tour as we arrive in the city of Cusco.
NOTE: If you wish to visit Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you can do so after our guided tour, provided you have an entry ticket.
