Early Transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo
Your adventure begins with an early hotel pick-up in Cusco between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. You will travel in a private, comfortable vehicle to the Ollantaytambo train station.
The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, giving you time to relax or rest before the day truly begins.

Scenic Train Journey to Aguas Calientes
Upon arrival at the station, our staff will assist you and ensure you board the correct train and carriage.
Your Expedition-class train departs around 6:10 a.m. or 6:40 a.m., traveling along the Urubamba River and through breathtaking Andean landscapes.
The journey lasts about 1.5 hours and offers spectacular scenery throughout the ride.
Bathrooms are available onboard for your comfort.
Meet Your Guide in Aguas Calientes
Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), step outside the train station where your guide will be waiting, holding a sign with the Machu Picchu Andean logo or your name.
You will receive important instructions and have approximately 20 minutes to prepare before continuing. From this point on, you will be fully accompanied by a certified and experienced guide, ensuring a smooth, safe, and enriching visit.
Bus Ride Up to Machu Picchu
Next, you will board the Consettur bus for a 25–30 minute ride up to the main entrance of Machu Picchu.
The scenic zig-zag road offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Your entrance ticket usually includes Circuit 2, the most complete and recommended route inside the citadel.
If Circuit 2 is unavailable, Circuit 1, 3, or 4 will be assigned depending on availability.

Bus Down to Aguas Calientes

Free Time in Aguas Calientes

Return Train to Ollantaytambo
Board the Expedition train for your return journey, usually departing around 2:30 p.m. or 3:20 p.m.
After approximately 1.5 hours, you will arrive at Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting at the station exit.
Tourist Transport Back to Cusco
The final part of your journey is a comfortable private transfer back to Cusco, lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

No re-entry allowed: Once you exit the site, re-entry is not permitted, even if you have not used the full time allowed.
Limited ticket availability: Machu Picchu has a daily limit of 5,600 visitors. We strongly recommend booking this tour at least two months in advance.
Non-refundable tickets: All Machu Picchu entrance tickets, including Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain, are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be rescheduled, in accordance with regulations of the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
Group size: This tour operates with a maximum of 8 participants, ensuring a more personalized experience.
Arrival in Cusco: Travelers must arrive in Cusco at least one day before the tour departure.
Guided tour duration: Your guided visit inside Machu Picchu lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Prohibited Items Inside Machu Picchu
Walking sticks are not allowed unless medically necessary.
Drones, tripods, and selfie sticks are strictly prohibited.
Professional cameras are not allowed without a special permit (permits exceed USD 300).
Large backpacks are not permitted. Only small backpacks are allowed, so please leave large bags at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Canes are permitted for elderly travelers only if they have a rubber tip (metal tips are not allowed).
Strikes & Roadblocks (Important Notice)
Strikes and roadblocks can occasionally occur in Peru and may affect train services and access routes to Machu Picchu.
If a strike occurs on the day of your tour, we will transfer you to Aguas Calientes the night before your scheduled visit to ensure you can still enter Machu Picchu as planned.
After visiting the citadel:
You will hike approximately 3 hours from Aguas Calientes to Hydroelectric.
From there, we will drive about 7 hours back to Cusco.

What Happens if There Are No Tickets Available for Circuit 2?
If Circuit 2 is sold out on the official Ministry of Culture system, SALAS TRAVEL PERU cannot obtain it.
In this case, we organize the following alternative:
Purchase Circuit 3 + Circuit 1
Guided visit on Circuit 3 (2 hours)
Independent visit on Circuit 1 (1 hour)
This combination still allows you to see the main viewpoints and most important areas of Machu Picchu.
An additional fee of USD 45 applies for the second ticket.
